Parkview Community FCU is dedicated to the growth and strength of the communities where our members live and work.  Our participation in the community not only consists of our financial support but we give of our time as well.  The credit union philosophy is “people helping people” and everyday we strive to ensure that we here at Parkview Community FCU live up to it.

Parkview Community FCU Scholarship Program

Parkview Community FCU is pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 Scholarship Program. 

 

Daniel Franzetta, a sophomore at University of Pittsburgh (Greensburg), won a $500 scholarship which will help him to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate in Nuclear Engineering.  Upon graduation Daniel plans to seek employment at a multifaceted company and pursue his graduate degree.  He has been a member of Parkview Community FCU since 1991.

 

Darius Walker also won $500 to aid in his pursuit of a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy.  He will be attending the University of Pittsburgh (Johnstown) as a freshman this fall.  Darius plans to become a retail pharmacist at the conclusion of his studies.  He has been a member of PCFCU since 2008.

 

If you or someone you know is currently pursuing their postsecondary education, scholarship applications are available at our Main Office (McKeesport) and the Branch Office (West Mifflin).  Application deadline is April 1st.  Additional information may also be received by calling 412-678-9564 or 412-655-6868.

 

Financial Literacy Presentations

Parkview Community FCU still believes that financial literacy is the key to a good solid education and strives to make presentations to all age groups, especially school age children.  PCFCU curriculum as well as Banking On Our Future (non-profit financial literacy organization) curriculum is presented.  Financial literacy presentations have been made to:

  • McKeesport Area High School; McKeesport, PA
  • McKeesport Founder’s Hall; McKeesport, PA
  • Auberle’s Life Skills Program; McKeesport, PA
  • Auberle’s Movin’ On Transitional Housing Program; Duquesne, PA
  • Serra Catholic High School; McKeesport, PA

Parkview Community FCU takes pride in the many charitable donations that not only it provides but its staff has made donations as well to many area organizations/programs.  We have sponsored the following organizations/program during 2009:

In addition to the above listed donations, the staff also raised money for our Charity-of-the-Year, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  The staff planned and coordinated several fundraisers during 2009 in order to raise over $5,000.  The Charity-of-the-Year for 2010 will be Intersection, a non-profit community organization located in McKeesport.
