***** Important NEWS ****
Chip Cards and EMV technology have been in the news over the last year or so. Chip cards are payment cards that have an embedded chip. They are based on a global card payment standard called EMV. Chip cards offer more advance security when used “in-store” and at the ATM. The cards are more difficult to counterfeit or copy because of the data & one-time code that are embedded in the chip cannot be duplicated if stolen. This technology is believed to cut down on the numerous data breaches that have happened at businesses that result in compromised cards and massive inconvenience and enormous costs associated with these type of events.
Industry regulations require that current payment cards that do not have the chip be replaced to ensure that consumers are provided with more security when performing “in-store” and ATM transactions. To comply with these regulations, Parkview Community Federal Credit Union will be converting all of our Visa debit cards and Visa credit cards to chip cards over the next few months. Current debit and/or credit cardholders are not required to do anything to receive a new card. You will automatically receive a new card in the mail.
