In Western Pennsylvania, neighbors are always helping each other out. At Parkview Federal Credit Union, we carry on that tradition with our community outreach. It's all part of our "people helping people" philosophy.
Raising money for charity. Providing valuable services in the community. Sponsoring school events and other activities. We don't just serve the Greater Pittsburgh area. We're part of it.
Every year, Parkview Community Federal Credit Union chooses one charity to focus on. In 2018 we fundraised for Autism Speaks Pittsburgh Chapter. Through the generosity of our members and employees, we were able to raise $5,640.26. PCFCU always has a monetary goal in mind at the beginning of the year and we do everything possible to reach it.
In addition to raising money for our charity of the year “Autism Speaks” we also helped other local organizations. One of the organizations we were able to help was Operation Vet Now. We donated non-perishable items for vets in need (i.e. hats, gloves, hygiene products, food, etc.). We also had the opportunity to help low-income college students by supplying them with personal care items, non-perishable goods, school supplies, etc. The last donation drive of 2018 was one that we planned ourselves. The Warming Winter Hearts Drive was a winter wear drive for two local shelters in need. Our members also participated in this and were very generous with their donations. We were extremely successful in all of our donation efforts and hope we can continue in 2019.
Then there's our Annual Community Shred Event. To ensure the security of our neighbors' sensitive personal information, we offer free document disposal. We proudly support many other events, including homecoming festivities for our hometown McKeesport Area High School Tigers. We join the Irwin Business and Professional Association in sponsoring great community events like the Gig on Main and the Light-Up Night Parade. We're also proud members and sponsors of many great business and community events hosted by the Norwin Chamber of Commerce, the Mon Yough Area Chamber of Commerce and the Pittsburgh chapter of Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.
We also put a strong focus on financial education. We host a number of Financial Reality Fairs, which give young people a chance to develop good monetary habits at a young age. PCFCU also goes the extra mile to educate our adult members on how to make smart financial decisions. After all, we don't just see ourselves as a financial institution. We're a helpful neighbor as well.
